Keep Your Account Safe with Push Notifications!

We’re excited to announce an improved 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) system, featuring Push Notifications to make your mobile banking experience even more secure. Secure Access Codes are now being delivered through Push Notifications on Android and iOS devices to verify your identity when you log in to Itasca Bank Online Banking.

As an additional measure to enhance your account security, emails will no longer be available as a delivery method for Secure Access Codes starting March 3. 2025. This change ensures the use of safer, more reliable methods such as text messages, phone calls, or push notifications for account verification. Please ensure your mobile phone and/or home phone are updated in your Account Settings as soon as possible.

What's a Push Notification?

A Push Notification is a short, clickable message sent directly to your device via the Itasca Bank app. It’s designed to keep you informed and secure, even when you’re not actively using the Mobile Banking app.

What's a Secure Access Code (SAC)?

A Secure Access Code (SAC) is a unique, temporary code used to confirm your identity during login or sensitive transactions, providing an extra layer of protection.

Key Features of Push Notifications:

  1. Mobile-Only Feature
    • Push Notifications work exclusively on mobile devices, not desktops.
  2. Enhanced Security for Verification
    • A Secure Access Code (SAC) is required when:
      1. Logging in to your online banking account from a new device.
      2. Confirming sensitive transactions like fund transfers or updating account details.
  3. Customizable Notifications
    • Manage Push Notifications in the app’s Settings or your phone’s notification settings.
    • You can choose which Alerts you receive, but Security Alerts will always be sent through all selected channels (like email, text or phone calls).

How to set up Push Notifications:

Ensure your Itasca Bank Mobile App is updated to the latest version.

  1. During Login
    • Upon logging in on your mobile app once Push Notifications are live, you’ll see a prompt explaining Push Notifications and 2FA.
    • To register your device and enable Push Notifications, tap Allow.
    • To skip this setup, tap No, Thanks. (You can enable it later.)
  2. In Settings
    • If you missed the initial setup, go to Settings in the app and select Push Notifications.
    • Toggle Enable Notifications to On.
    • This is also a good time to review all your Alerts and set them as you’d like.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I enable Push Notifications later?
Yes, you can enable them anytime in the app under Settings > Push Notifications.
  • Are Push Notifications available on desktops?
No. Push Notifications are exclusive to mobile devices.
  • Does it cost anything to use Push Notifications?
    No, this feature is free.
  • Can I use Push Notifications for multiple logins on one device?
No, each device can be registered for one login only.
  • Will I receive Alerts via other methods?
Once enabled, Security Alerts will be sent via Push Notifications in addition to any other methods you’ve selected.
  • Why are emails being removed as a Secure Access Code (SAC) delivery method?
Email is less secure compared to a text message, phone call or Push Notification. Removing email helps reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your account.
