Itasca Bank & Trust Co. is pleased to announce that John J. Hunt has been named President, marking the next chapter in the Bank’s continued growth and commitment to the community.
John J. Hunt joined the Bank in 2011 as Chief Loan Officer and, over the past 13 years, he has helped expand its customer base and deepen relationships with businesses and individuals throughout the community. His promotion to President and continuing as the Chief Loan Officer ensures that Itasca Bank & Trust Co. remains well-positioned for the future.
“Itasca Bank has built a legacy of trust, stability, and community commitment for 77 years, and I am honored to step into this new position,” said John. “We have an exceptional team, a strong foundation, and a clear vision for the future. I look forward to leading the Bank in a way that honors our history while continuing to grow and best serve our customers.”
Prior to joining Itasca Bank & Trust Co., John spent more than three decades in community banking in the Chicagoland area, holding leadership positions at financial institutions where he helped drive growth and credit quality.
John will be working closely with James R. Mensching, who has been elected Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. James. R. Mensching served as President since 2015, overseeing significant growth and financial stability at Itasca Bank & Trust Co. His leadership philosophy was rooted in collaboration, innovation, and maintaining the Bank’s community-driven mission.
“Community banking is about more than just financial transactions—it’s about building relationships, supporting local businesses, and helping families achieve their goals,” said Jim.
Over the next few years, Jim will gradually transition management responsibilities to John, following the same structured succession plan that was successfully implemented during the last leadership transition in 2015. “John is a strong leader who understands and values these principles. His expertise and dedication to the Bank’s mission make him the right person to guide us into the future.”
As part of this transition, Jack E. Mensching, who has served the Bank for 47 years, retired from his role as Chairman of the Board. His leadership and commitment have played a fundamental role in shaping the Bank’s long-term success.
"Itasca Bank & Trust Co. has always been about its people—employees, customers, and the community," said Jack. "I have great confidence in Jim, John, and the entire team as they continue the mission we’ve built together."
This leadership transition reflects a carefully structured plan designed to maintain the strength and independence of Itasca Bank & Trust Co., while ensuring a seamless path forward for its customers and employees.
